Europe must prepare this year for more terrorist attacks says Europol. The New Year’s Day, a day which should be celebrated, became a hellish day due to a terrorist attack at a nightclub, the act was claimed by the terrorist group Daesh.

The European Counter-Terrorism Centre (ECTC) was realized in early 2016 to make Europe safer, but the EU law enforcement agency, Europol, together with member states intelligence services came under fire because of the lack of coordinated intelligence sharing followed by terrorist attacks Charlie Hebdo and Paris attacks. It has made enormous efforts to fuse databases together and enhance cooperation between enforcement agencies.

Warning

A warning issued in November 2015 by the European Counter-Terrorism Centre stating: “Given this fact and a general assumption that [Daesh/ISIL] retains both the will and the capability to strike again, further attacks in the EU, both by lone actors and groups, are likely to take place in the near future”

Remarkably, countries that are part of the US-led coalition against Daesh are targets of terrorists of -and inspired by Daesh. Attacks can be carried out possibly by terrorists who perpetuate as Syrian refugees.
